Irwan was a former National Athlete and has represented Singapore on the international stage of IFSC World Cups and Asian Championships. His dedication to the sport goes beyond achieving good results for himself. He has coach multiple schools and has produced many skillful climbers throughout his coaching career.

Irwan's impeccable attention to detail in route setting has made him one of the most sought Chief Setters to work with locally and regionally. He has collaborated with big names in the setting industry, such as Tonde Katiyo, Jackie Hueftle, Hiroshi Okano, and Florian Escoffier. Irwan is the co-founder of Griplines.Co and is currently based in United Arab Emirates to nurture and grow the pool of athletes in UAE.
